Aging is an inevitable part of life. It is something that every person has to face as the years pass them by.

Wrinkles, loose skin, gray hair, deepening eyes, loss of muscle mass, dull skin tone, and the list goes on!

These days, people seem to be willing to go to any lengths to keep their youth!

Getting injections or going under the knife and having surgery to tighten their skin have become a normal part of many women’s lives.

Every woman has to make the decision whether or not these procedures are right for her or not.

Many women opt to age naturally, without the assistance of cosmetic procedures. So how do these women maintain their youthful appearance and take such great care of themselves?!

Here are 11 anti-aging hacks of women who always look younger!

1. Know That The Sun Ages You Quicker Than Anything Else

It may sound crazy, but sun exposure is actually responsible for most of the visible signs of aging – more than all other aging factors combined!

Every sunburn counts! The sun’s UV rays cause wrinkles, sun spots, a reduction in skin elasticity, a tougher skin texture, and a significantly greater chance of skin cancer.

You may enjoy your amazing tan body in your 20’s and early 30’s, but the signs of aging will start to show in your early 30’s.

Premature aging WILL happen – the first signs showing on your face!

Wear sunscreen every single day! If you are only in the sun for a few moments, at least make sure that your moisturizer has an SPF in it!

Also try to wear beauty products that have an SPF in them, such as your concealer, foundation, and lip products.

2.) Always Wear Moisturizer – Apply it Morning and Night

Moisturizing your skin is an absolute necessity if you want to maintain a youthful appearance!

And this doesn’t just include your face. After every shower (and at least once a day), you should lotion up your whole body.

Always cleanse your face before adding a moisturizer.

Then add a healthy amount of lotion to your face, neck, and chest – because all 3 of these places are the first to show signs of aging.

When possible, upgrade the quality of your moisturizer and don’t be afraid to switch things up! Your skin can get too much of a good thing and stop responding to it like it did in the beginning.

Pro Tip: Make sure that your skincare routine works with your skin type: dry, oily, or combination. And remember your skin type can change depending on what stage of life you are in!

3.) Only Wear Makeup When Necessary

Although makeup can enhance your features and make you look and feel attractive, it isn’t good for your skin (no matter how natural it is).

If you wear makeup during the day, try to take it off and cleanse/moisturize your face as soon as you get home.

Why? Because makeup clogs your pores, increases breakouts, makes your complexion more dull, and increases the risk of premature aging.

It is also incredibly important to take off your makeup before going to sleep!

During sleep, the body repairs itself and creates new skin cells to replace the old and damaged ones from the day.

If you still have your makeup on, it traps the dead skin cells and prevents them from turning over.

Pro Tip: Change your pillowcase regularly (every other night if possible). You pillowcase gathers sweat and dirt from your face and can lead to a buildup of unhealthy bacteria.

4.) Drink Water Like It’s Going Out of Style

Stop underestimating the power of water!

The best thing you can do for your body is to hydrate it on a regular basis.

Water assists in cell turnover and helps to keep your skin hydrated, preventing it from becoming wrinkled and saggy.

It also helps to boost your metabolism (lose weight) and cleanses your body of unwanted toxins.

Try adding some lemon to your water occasionally. Lemon is rich in Vitamin C and has a slew of other immunity-boosting benefits.

Take this 2-week challenge! Drink a minimum of 2 liters of water a day. Every time, your body will 100% respond positively. You may take more trips to the bathroom, but it will be worth it!

5.) Make Sleep A Priority

If you have the ability to get 7-8 hours of sleep a night, DO IT!

During sleep, your body repairs and regenerates itself.

Lack of sleep causes chronic fatigue, stress, and weight gain (to name a few). The first signs of aging will come in the form of dark eye circles, eye wrinkles.

Take this 2-week challenge! Change up your evening schedule and make it a priority to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night. Anything less should be considered a short-term necessity. Go to bed at the same time every night and try to get 8 hours of sleep. See how your body responds to the extra rest and consistent sleep schedule. You will feel more rested and your body will be able to regenerate itself!

6.) Try To Stay Away From Sugar

We all have to indulge once in a while! Sugary desserts are way too delicious!

But eating healthy has a huge impact on your overall health and appearance.

If you have a lot of processed sugar in your diet, it can fast-track your aging process with the appearance of dark circles, wrinkles, acne, and reduced elasticity.

Cutting sugary treats out of your diet (and only having them once in a while) will improve your skin health and encourage weight loss.

7.) Get A Facial Every 6-8 Weeks

(And yes, you can give yourself a facial too!)

If you do get a professional facial, it is a splurge! But it will help to prevent signs of aging.

An anti-aging spa treatment can combat wrinkles, brighten your dull skin, exfoliate your skin on a deeper level, and improve the texture of your skin.

If you start to notice fine lines and wrinkles forming around your eyes, nose, and mouth, a spa can do skin-firming treatments to help smooth these out and prevent them from developing further.

Many facials include glycolic acid treatments, hyluronic acid, and collagen-infused serums which help to restore the skin’s firmness and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

8.) Learn to De-Stress or Try To Stay Away From Stressful Situations

Sometimes, you can’t get out of stressful situations.

Maybe your job is currently stressful, you are in a difficult relationship, your family situation is exhausting, you have an anxiety disorder, or you find yourself in another stress-inducing situation.

You need to try to find some ways to effectively relieve the stress in your life. Stress and anxiety can take a toll on your body and your face!

Stress can leave you with deep under-eye circles and blood-shot eyes from lack of sleep. It can cause acne and skin damage because of increased stress hormones.

As stress increases, your body starts to react in a negative way, leading to experience serious signs of burnout.

Taking care of yourself and paying attention to your needs is an important part of maintaining your physical and emotional well-being.

9.) Stay Active

This doesn’t mean that you have to work out every day!

But your body NEEDS activity to stay mentally and physically strong.

Without regular activity, your body will slowly lose it’s ability to function properly with decreased strength and stamina.

Studies show that people who exercise at least 30 minutes every day always feel better about their appearance. The mental health benefits of exercise are HUGE!

Staying active will strengthen your muscles, prolong your life, and keep you feeling and acting younger!

10.) Build the Habit of Avoiding “Excess”

…excess food, excess exercise, excess sugar, excess makeup, excess cosmetic procedures, etc.

If you jump into a new diet or exercise routine and take it on in “excess”, there is a greater chance of you giving it up quicker or over-doing it to your own detriment.

This is a very French concept, something that most Frenchwomen pride themselves on!

You can do a lot of things like eat delicious food and desserts! But the key is to never do it in excess.

Otherwise you will age your skin and naturally gain some extra weight.

11.) Work on Maintaining A Positive Outlook on Life

You can have a lovely face, but if your mood is always negative, you will never be an enjoyable person to be around!

Youthful beauty is a fleeting thing! But a bright smile, good personality, and uplifting voice is something that can never be taken away from you.

If you find yourself being surrounded by negative people, distance yourself.

When you find yourself in a situation that makes you feel unhappy and worthless, find a way to “get out” as soon as possible.

And if you are in a life situation where you cannot seem to break away, try to find something to be positive about.

If you realize that you are always finding the negative in every situation, you are aging yourself mentally – which usually leads to physical aging as well.

Bonus Tip

Dermatologists and Skincare Specialists recommend wearing several types of serums and creams.

These do not have to be expensive products! You can pick them up at your local Sephora or Ulta easily.

  • Retinol (Amazing for anti-aging! Do your research, start slowly, and only wear at night.)
  • Vitamin C Serum (Boosts collagen and reverses cell damage.)
  • Exfoliating Scrub (Gently removes dead skin and brightens skin.)
  • Good-quality sunscreen every single time you are in the sun.
